How to start computer diagnosis

 THIRD PAGE

Check some conditions before starting the diagnosis like:-

(1)    Getting AC in power card?

(2)    Is the ON/OFF switch of the system OK and is it  connected properly?

(3)    Is the SMPS accurate and getting all the DC output from it?

(4)     the Reset is switch is off, not a short?

(5)    Correct power is connected to the motherboard by SMPS. If AT is the connector installed right?

(6)    Have you shortened the motherboard body while assembling?

(7)    SD, RAM and motherboard bus speed are same?

(8)    Is the SMPS wattage sufficient to meet the requirement and the AC I/P is at least 150?

(9)    Is CMOS clear jumper off in motherboard?

(10) If the motherboard has jumpers, have they been set according to the processor?

(11) No interface card lost?

(12) CPU cooler is installed in the processor? Has he been given power?

(13) Are the brightness and contrast settings off the monitor correct?

(14) Are the system speakers and keyboard connected to the motherboard?

(15) The power connectors of FDD (1.44 MB) are fitted correctly. Otherwise the +12V will get connected where the ground is to be connected?

(16) In some SMPS such I/P selector switch is made, by this 220V AC can be selected, so always keep in mind that this switch is set to 220V otherwise the SMPS may get damaged?

(17) Post (power on self test):- this is the process which starts as soon as the computer is turned on, it start from the post of the computer`s diagnosis. Turn on the system. The keyboard`s three LEDs should light up once, then turn off again as soon as the display is received. If the above symptoms are being received by the keyboard even when the monitor is not there, then it mean that the motherboard/RAM/processor is absolutely OK.

(18) Memory Count:- as soon as the display is received, the count of RAM installed is the system is shown by counting it in kilobytes, it starts from 0 KB and goes to  capacity of RAM, without any error it means that RAM is almost fine.

(19) Memory Tick Sond: - a ticking sound is received from the system speaker when the memory count is received, it means that the motherboard processor is fine. Tick sound can be turned ON or OFF by BIOS setup.
